FAQ

1. How often do I come to therapy and how long are the sessions?

Therapy generally works best when attended weekly. Our standard session is 45 minutes, once per week minimum.

2. What is the first session like?

We provide a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to hear more about you and what brings you to therapy, and to discuss the logistics of beginning therapy (fees, scheduling, referrals if needed). If we determine that we’re a good fit, we'll set up our first meeting, in which we'll begin to get to know one another, and your therapist will learn more about your history and your hopes for therapy.

3. How much does therapy cost?

Fees range from $100–$250 per session. This range includes a limited number of sliding scale openings based on the availability of the therapist. We accept credit card or Zelle, and payments are due at the end of each appointment. We offer a discount for those requiring more than one session per week. If we are not a fit for you financially, we are happy to provide you with a list of referrals that we trust that are able to accommodate fees below $100.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. This will be provided to you by your therapist at least 1 business day before your service.

4. Do you accept my insurance?

We don't accept insurance, but we submit superbills on behalf of our clients so that your insurance can then reimburse you directly if your plan covers out-of-network mental health services. The process goes: you pay for your session, we submit the superbill to your insurance, and then they send you a check. We recommend calling your insurance provider to ask if they cover out-of-network mental health services before getting started.

5. Where do I meet you?

We are currently only offering telehealth sessions while COVID cases are still high. We use a secure platform through our online management system called Simple Practice, and you will receive a link before your first appointment. When we're able to meet in person again, we will hold sessions at our office in Highland Park, Los Angeles. We will also be opening a location in Austin, Texas soon. Stay tuned.
