Cathy Moine-Webster (She/Her), AMFT
BIO:
I’m Cathy (she/her), AMFT #161937, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at Spaces Therapy. As a Highland Park therapist, my work is primarily grounded in Depth Psychology, which explores how unresolved experiences—often outside of our conscious awareness—shape the way we think, feel, and relate today. I believe many of the challenges we face in the present have roots in earlier life experiences, including childhood relationships and the cultural influences that shape our identities.
In therapy, we gently explore these deeper layers through your personal story—your relationships, culture, gender identity, and dreams. To ensure our work leads to tangible change, I also integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help identify and shift unhelpful patterns. This "insight-plus-action" approach fosters greater self-understanding while supporting the person you are becoming.
Guiding Principles:
Guided by a person-centered, humanistic philosophy, I strive to create a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space. I believe that therapy is a sanctuary for curiosity and honesty. My practice is rooted in the belief that you already carry the keys to your own untapped potential; my role is to help you discover and unlock what is already within you. I am committed to honoring your unique intersectional identity—including race, culture, and spirituality—as we work together toward long-lasting change.
My Style of Therapy:
Compassionate: I believe trust grows from genuine human connection. I move beyond simple empathy to stand alongside you in your pain, working together to ease it through deep understanding.
Collaborative: I view our work as a partnership. While I offer clinical insight and curiosity, I honor your expertise in your own life. We explore your goals at a pace that feels safe and sustainable for you.
Holistic: Lasting well-being requires a balance between mind and body. I incorporate mindfulness, breathing exercises, somatic work, and spirituality to help you achieve a felt sense of peace and alignment.
I’m Particularly Good at Working With:
Unconscious Patterns & Depth Work: Individuals looking to move beyond "band-aid" solutions to understand the root causes of their anxiety or relationship cycles.
Children & Adolescents: Using a gentle, creative approach to help younger clients process emotions and build resilience.
Couples & Families: Helping partners and families improve communication by exploring the underlying attachment needs that drive conflict.
High-Achieving Adults: Supporting those who feel "stuck" despite their outward success, using CBT and Depth work to find deeper meaning.
