Morgan Dixon, LMFT, Clinician Care Coordinator (she/her)
BIO:
My name is Morgan, she/her, LMFT (CA# 143871). As a therapist at Spaces Therapy, my approach is primarily relational, psychodynamic, and experiential. I often work with clients on developing a generative relationship with themselves, gaining insight into the past's connection with the present, and utilizing real-time, embodied experiences to support healing and change. I value genuine human connection alongside analytical reflection and always show up as my authentic self in the room. In addition to therapy, my passion project here is Good Mother—a Spaces Therapy initiative designed to be a well of resources for those navigating parenthood, including specialized therapy for mothers.
Guiding Principles:
At the start of treatment, I prioritize creating a sense of comfort and safety. This looks like tuning into the environment first, noticing what feels good, and adjusting anything that would make it better. From the very beginning, my goal is to help you practice slowing down, checking in, and responding to what you notice.
As we get to know each other, we will weave back and forth between past and present experiences. We will try to better understand what has formed you as a person and identify anything that may feel stuck or unresolved. It is important to me to always treat every individual as part of a greater context. This means looking at the historical, environmental, inter-generational, and systemic conditions that form you.
During each session, I will be thinking about how to engage with our work not just intellectually but also in an embodied way. My hope in this is to facilitate real-time felt experiences of personal and relational healing. This could look different depending on what feels doable for you but might include taking on different seats in the room to play out different voices and parts of yourself, a visualization, or a role play. This is all with the caveat that I value meeting people where they are at and will never ask you to do something you don’t want to do.
My Style of Therapy:
Creative
I highly value responsiveness to the person in front of me and strive to cultivate a sense of play and exploration in sessions. This often means being flexible and inventive with how we navigate the various experiences therapy has to offer.
Directive
I prioritize the felt experience of healing and change. I ask direct questions, reflect observations, and am always willing to explore practical solutions alongside depth-oriented work. This can be particularly helpful for navigating challenges like anxiety in relationships.
Collaborative
Alongside directiveness, I view therapy as an essentially creative and joint effort. I work with clients to find frameworks, perspectives, and practices that resonate with their unique way of experiencing the world. This includes frequent conversations about how sessions feel and what adjustments might be helpful.
Warm
I foster genuine relationships with clients, showing up authentically myself to invite others to do the same. This warmth creates a safe foundation for addressing topics like relationship therapy or general anxiety therapy.
