When Doing is the Healing: The Art of Behavioral Activation

Continuing Education Training

Course Description: This course is a practical, skills-focused workshop designed for therapists who want to enhance their ability to help clients overcome "stuckness", avoidance, and depressive patterns through purposeful action. Grounded in behavioral theory, this training covers the essential components of Behavioral Activation (BA) and how to deliver it effectively in diverse clinical populations using a trauma-informed lens.

Participants will learn how to integrate core BA strategies such as activity monitoring, values exploration and problem solving to support client motivation and engagement. This workshop blends evidence-based practice with clinical wisdom to empower therapists in guiding clients from stagnation towards meaningful movement.

Instructor Information: Angela L. Belleville is a licensed therapist in both California and Massachusetts, and the founder of Bella Health. With over 20 years of experience, her work is built on two core values: providing trusted trauma-informed care and advancing the use of evidence-based therapies that foster lasting change.

Angela specializes in PTSD treatment and is highly trained and certified in leading, research-backed approaches, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), EMDR (including EMDR 2.0), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and other trauma-focused CBT modalities. Recognizing that recovery doesn’t follow a single path, she emphasizes flexibility in care—drawing on different therapeutic approaches as needed to ensure individuals have the options and support that best fit their healing journey.

Since completing her Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology at Northeastern University in 2003, Angela has acquired extensive specialized training in trauma treatment and a wide range of mental health experience ranging from women’s inpatient psychiatric trauma unit, DBT-based day treatment, behavioral health care management, outpatient clinic work, non profit community-based wraparound supervision and management, program development, clinical training, CIT police training, private practice and consulting, community fundraising, and in academic arenas as a continuing education workshop presenter.

Her training and consulting partnerships have included Healing Abuse Working for Change (HAWC), Boston College , National Association of Social Workers (NASW) NY Chapter,  Private Practice Colloquium, FireFly Health, Eliot Community Human Services, University of Albany, LightWorks, Wellable Co. and more.
