Brenda Delahorne (She/Her), AMFT & APCC

BIO:

I’m Brenda (she/her), a registered Associate Therapist at Spaces Therapy (AMFT #160100 & APCC #21341). I specialize in helping individuals and couples navigate anxiety, deepen emotional awareness, and strengthen their relationships. With a background as a professional musician, I bring a deep appreciation for the complexities of creative identity and the unique pressures of life in the arts.

I see therapy as a space to slow down, gently reflect on what matters most, and notice what needs care. Whether you are struggling with relationship anxiety, career pressure, or a sense of disconnection, I work with you to repair your relationship with yourself and others.

Guiding Principles:

As a relational, trauma-informed therapist, I prioritize building an authentic connection where healing can happen. I believe our early attachment experiences shape our present-day relationships, and I focus on creating a safe, collaborative space for you to explore these patterns.

My practice is rooted in a social justice-oriented, decolonizing lens. I honor your intersecting identities and explore how societal systems impact your mental health. As a white, cisgender therapist, I am committed to ongoing self-reflection and unlearning biases to ensure a space where all parts of you are welcomed and respected.

My Style of Therapy:

Approachable: I offer a grounded, calm, and supportive presence. I value a connection that feels gentle and even humor-filled—meeting as human beings to engage in this vulnerable work together.

Integrative & Creative: Drawing on my background in music, I work intuitively to weave practical tools into your life. This is especially helpful for those navigating creative blocks or the "stuckness" of anxiety.

Holistic: I integrate somatic tools and mindfulness to strengthen the mind-body connection, helping you cultivate a felt sense of safety and embodiment.

Collaborative: You are the expert of your lived experience. We will process what feels burdensome at your pace—whether focusing on the past to heal trauma or staying in the present to improve communication.

I’m Particularly Good at Working With:

  • Anxiety & Emotional Disconnection: Guiding young adults through midlife toward greater self-trust and more meaningful connections.

  • Couples Therapy: Providing affirming support for LGBTQIA+ couples and those navigating ADHD, helping partners build stronger communication and deeper intimacy.

  • Creatives & Performers: Navigating the pressures of sustainable careers, identity questions, and the need for restorative rest.

  • Teens & Young Adults: Supporting those overwhelmed by external expectations in developing emotional regulation and self-image.
